Oh my!!! What a week it has been. Hurricane Claudette decided to make an appearance in Galveston and in our yard. We live on the canal and when it rains in the Gulf our canal in the back yard gets high. Well, we went to bed monday night and eveything looked fine. The water level was a little high but nothing to worry about. Well, I woke up in the middle of the night to the house shaking. I did not get up at that point cause Chris said it was nothing. Well, at six in the morning we got up and looked out the window and our yard was the canal. The water was completly covering our yard and was out to the street. It was all the way to the 3rd step and in the garage. There was about three inches in my car!!! So Chris put it on blocks. I had to stay home as well as everyone else from work. By 3 in the afternoon the level of the water started going down so we decided we ought to leave in Chris truck and see what this did to the rest of galveston. Well, it was pretty bad. The water was in the street and there was all kind of debri from the wind and water everywhere. Some peoples houses are pretty damaged that live on the beach. Some of their decks are blown and washed away. So we are very lucky that there was little damage. Chris gutted my car so that it could dry because it stinks real bad. The yard and garage stink because that water is so nasty and was full of fish and jelly fish and alot were left behind. Yum!!!!
This is a pic from our front door looking into the front yard. The canal normally starts behind that neighbors house. Well, as you can see it just comes right into the yard.
This shows that the street in front of us is kinda missing!!!
That house straight ahead is normally across the canal from us. But now, Its just one big canal from their house to ours.
This is what the main street looked like. Pretty nasty stuff. All of everybodys belongings were everywhere if it wasn't tied down. Can you beleive thats where the water line was?
The weekend before all this happened we had out family reunion and we had a blast. I saw my cousin that I hadn't seen since last year. My sister, her boyfriend, and Chris and I had a blast cause we stayed in the same room and goofed off. Oh almost forgot, the thursday before the reunion my sisters and I went to Louisiana to get tattoos. We had to go to La. cause Renee is only 17. We had a blast getting that too.
This is me and Renee at the hotel at the reunion showing of our tattoos. Hers is on her foot and mine is on my ankle. You can't even tell what mine is. They are both butterflies. Mine is sideways though.
Thats a closer one of mine but it looks kinda gross cause it was kinda bleeding and healing cause it was the day after we got it done.
This is Renee, Cailyn, & Justin at the reunion.
This is my cousin Danny and his wife April at Rudy's in Waco. It was wonderful Barbeque. I ate so much there.
We found this sunflower sticking out in front of this old abandoned house that looked really bad. I guess that goes to show you that something beautiful can spring out from the ugliest of places. Life can be the same way. Peace can come in the dark of the night. I hope your life is a beam of sunshine just waiting to peak its head up out of the dark. I know mine is. I have sunflowers growing like weeds in my heart. I hope you can find the same joy in life. Peace, love, hope.....but the greatest of these is sunflowers.....uh, oooooppppppsssss. Sorry....we all know its love. HEHEHEHEHE!!!!

I loved the pictures. Especially the ones of the sunflower and you and your comment about it and life. You have learned a lot haven't you. It makes you look at things all together different and especially during hard times. The sun always shines after a storm. I am proud of you.
